Endowed Professorships
Professorships
Columbia Business School faculty members bridge theory and practice through their work in the classroom, their research and their connections with the corporate world. Ideas honed through interaction with students, colleagues and practitioners find global applications, helping to change management, organizational and financial practices.
To recognize the accomplishments of those senior faculty members who shape business theory and practice, Columbia Business School is pleased to be able to provide a number of endowed professorships. At a time of intense competition for the most gifted faculty members, an endowed professorship is among the highest and most attractive honors a university can confer. Endowed professorships enable the School to encourage and reward higher standards of excellence in scholarship and teaching and are crucial in recruiting and retaining top scholars and teachers.
Endowed professorship giving opportunities are available for those donors who value academic excellence and recognize the importance of furthering the School’s intellectual resources. Donors may establish professorships in their own name or in the names of others whom they wish to honor; the position exists in perpetuity.
We are pleased to announce that Arthur Samberg ’67 has pledged $25 million in matching funds so that other donors have the opportunity to endow and name professorships for $1.5 million. This is an exciting opportunity to help the School recruit and retain world-class intellectual capital.
In testament to the School’s community of generous friends, we are pleased to list the School’s current endowed professorships and their recipients.
