Back to FAQ
How does email for life work?
Your email for life is not a valid e-mail address or e-mail box/account- you cannot receive or send email from it. Rather, it is an e-mail forwarding vehicle where e-mail gets redirected to your personal or business mailbox. When you log on to BANC, you can designate your preferred forwarding address.
Back to FAQ
I'm having trouble logging in. What should I do?
You may need your correct log in and password. Please contact us at alumni@gsb.columbia.edu or (212) 854-8815 for your information. It is also possible that our system is down. Please be patient and try back again in a few minutes.
Back to FAQ

Once you are logged onto BANC, click on “Calendar” at the top of the screen. You can also find a listing of events for the New York Club at www.cbsacny.org or on various club websites. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at (212) 854-8815.

How can I search for alumni?
Once you are logged onto BANC, click on “Directory” at the top of the screen. You can search by name, occupation, company, location or interest. Don't forget to use the "advanced search" option to search by more detailed criteria. If you are having a hard time finding what you want, broaden your search (e.g. all investment bankers in California rather than just in Menlo Park.)
Back to FAQ
I am a graduate of another school. Can I get access to BANC? How can I get
contact information for one of your alumni?
Unfortunately, we do not grant access to non-alumni, even if they attended another Columbia University program. If you want to get in touch with an alumnus of Columbia Business School, please send your contact information and the name of the person you are trying to reach to alumni@gsb.columbia.edu and we will forward it on to the alumnus. It will then be up to the alumnus to contact you.
Back to FAQ
I'd like to make alumni aware of my event. How can I spread the word?
Our alumni e-mail lists are a great way to get in touch with fellow alumni. You can join groups based on geography, interest, industry or class year. Please note that BANC e-mail lists are un-moderated, so we rely on list users to exercise good judgment and common sense when deciding what types of messages are appropriate. Only send e-mails announcing an upcoming event related to the topic of the mail group. You can also place an ad to promote your services on the Alumni Yellow Pages by simply logging in at www.gsb.columbia.edu/alumni.
Back to FAQ
How do I join an e-mail list? How do I post to an e-mail list?
You can join a wide variety of e-mail lists on BANC. Once you are logged onto BANC, click on “Network” at the top of the screen, then click "E-Mail Lists" on the left. There are lists for geography, industry, interest, class year and cluster. To post to an e-mail list, send a message from the e-mail account you have signed up with.
Please note that there are two kinds of E-mail Lists, “General” and “Open.” In the “Open” list, alumni can exchange business opportunities and event announcements. In the “General” list, however, content must be specific to that e-mail group.
Specific examples of appropriate “General” mail group use might include:
• Asking for recommendation and advice within a particular industry
• Sharing information about the relevant industry or topic, such as a New York Times article (not a press release from your firm)
• Announcing an upcoming event related to the topic of the mail group
Specific examples of inappropriate “General” mail group use include (but are not limited to):
• Promoting a business venture or advertising products or
• Soliciting donations to one's favorite charity
• Announcing an upcoming event unrelated to the topic of the mail group
