Neil Plakcy writes, “My third mystery novel, Mahu Fire, was published in April by Alyson Books. An early review by Publishers Weekly calls it “engrossing” and a “sharp whodunit.” I am still living in sunny South Florida and teaching at Broward Community College.” Neil Plakcy is the author of Mahu Surfer (Alyson Books, 2007), the second in his Hawaii mystery series starring openly gay Honolulu homicide detective Kimo Kanapa'aka. In this new book, Kimo heads to the north shore of Oahu to discover the killer of three surfers. In 2006, Neil was granted tenure as a professor of English at Broward Community College in South Florida. Dick Oshlo recently accepted newly-elected Iowa Governor Chet Culver's offer to be the State Budget Director in his Administration. He writes, "Previously I was the policy coordinator for Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack, the corporate treasurer of a Fortune 250 corporation and an officer of JP Morgan & Co. Before earning my MBA degree at Columbia, I was the chief of staff to U.S. Senator John C. Culver, who is Governor Culver's father." Lost Alumni
